Two weeks after the Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week, Brooklyn hosted its 15th annual BK Fashion Week{end} from February 28 to March 3 at Industry City in Sunset Park, a western neighborhood of Brooklyn.
The red carpet was in clear view upon entering the building, but only accessible after passing the frenzied crowd at the door. BK Fashion Week{end} entertained its audience with an array of talented designers from all over the world. The last day was devoted to Brooklyn-based designers, including women’s wear designers Priti Bali and Jermaine Jerry.
The collections seemed to appeal to many tastes and attracted a diverse crowd of new clients and buyers. BK Fashion Week{end} alsto promotes 20 Fall/Winter 2013 designers on their website. One of these featured designers was recent Parsons graduate Natia Porter.
Despite the small turnout and limited media coverage, BK Fashion Week{end} served as a showcase for a community not enough praised for its sartorial innovations despite its innovative display of styles and passions.
