Runways and catwalks aren’t the only places to spot this season’s hottest trends. Looking around New School classrooms, you can see students showing off their favorite styles. Whoever said school was not a place for high fashion, has never spent time in the Lang courtyard. New School students have unique and individual styles, and embrace a variety of trends and looks. From bohemian, to sporty, to avant-garde and punk rock, students cover all ends of the fashion spectrum. But New York City winters can make being fashionable hard. Even with all of the layers — sweaters and coats needed to stay warm — students remain as stylish as ever. As winter is finally coming to an end, the Free Press asked New Schoolers about their favorite and least favorite styles, how to keep warm and still look good, and which clothes they can’t wait to break out for spring. Doc Martens, fur coats and sweaters are some popular winter styles, but students can’t wait to shed their layers for tank tops, flip flops and sunglasses. Although it’s hard to say exactly when the weather will start to warm up, one thing is for sure; no matter what season, New Schoolers are always in style.
