With a lyrical name and the Instagram feed to go with it, Chloe Crane-Leroux, a Parsons senior majoring in Photography, takes to Instagram to showcase her minimalistic photography style under the handle @chloecleroux. “I love simple things,” said Crane-Leroux, “I like food, home decor, fashion. I’m into everything but I like to keep the same aesthetic.”

Crane-Leroux explained that her style has evolved since she started three years ago. “Every year I change it out because people don’t always want the same thing,” said Crane-Leroux. “You should keep what your followers are interested in and what you are interested in. That’s the most important thing.”

For Crane-Leroux, Instagram is a platform for business. “I get work from it. I’m not necessarily paid for posts but people contact me all the time and 90% of the time, they found me through Instagram,” said Crane-Leroux.

To build a following Crane-Leroux advises to “just work on it, don’t abandon it, it obviously takes time.”
Crane-Leroux anticipates that in a couple years, Instagram will go out of fashion. She sees no reason to quit now. “It’s such a great place, such a great community, such a great platform,” said Crane-Leroux. “Instagram has brought me so much more than just an app, or just a place for me to post pictures. I got jobs and I’ve met incredible people. Instagram brought positive things to me.”
