An email from David Howe, the New School’s Area Coordinator and Director of Kerry Hall, was sent out to dorm residents Wednesday evening advising them of the fixed service.

In the email, students were also warned that the water may first come out dark, but should return to normal after running the faucet for a short period of time.

So far there’s been no word on when food services at the New School’s UC dining hall might return to normal order. The Lang Cafe in the 11th street New School building will be open until 9 PM Wednesday evening for students looking to dine using their meal plan money.

Update 11:59 PM:Screen Shot 2016-04-28 at 12.02.17 AMAn email sent out to the New School community Wednesday evening confirmed that all seven buildings affected by the water main break have had their water service restored.

It’s dark and the work crews are still jackhammering away in the middle of Fifth Avenue. It’s unclear how long this could go on for.

The scene on Fifth Avenue in front of the UC is more hectic than ever. There’s a massive hole dug up in the middle of the 13th street and Fifth Avenue intersection, Department of Environmental Protection and ConEd crews are scrambling everywhere, a ton water’s streaming down the avenue, and only one lane of downtown-bound traffic is open. It’s a mess.
