Welcome to Bad Apple, the New School Free Press’s weekly post that delivers the low-down on the most time-worthy and the best bad events of the upcoming week. It’s Halloween week and we’re hear to tell you about the creepiest, most scream worthy events of this annual spooky week.

CancerCrusher Halloween Party

Friday October 28th at 11:00pm – 2:00am

Spend your Halloween giving back this year with the CancerCrusher Halloween Party. CancerCrusher Committee is hosting its third CancerCrusher Halloween Party to raise money for Make-A-Wish® Metro New York, their mission is to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. This event will include a three hour open bar, DJ, photographer, and awesome prizes for best costume. The theme for Halloween Party is ‘I wish I was!’, everyone comes dressed as someone or something they wanted to be when they grew up (their favorite person, character, animal, etc). Tickets for event are slightly pricey but will be totally worth it, they can be found here.

Blood Manor

Blood Manor is a New York City’s premier haunted house, comprised of over 5,000 square feet of pure terror. Made of up themed rooms, corridors, and a labyrinth of passages to maximise the guests fearful experience. Blood Manor is designed to be the most intense, creepy and scream inducing halloween themed activity that New York has to offer. If the house gets too much for you there are emergency exits you can use with the direction of a cast member – however, there will be no refund. Students can show their school ID and get a $10 discount at tickets bought at the door only, tickets can bought online before here.

Haunted Hayride

This tractor-drawn hay wagon will crawl its way through an enchanted nightmare of ghosts, monsters, demons, twisted backwoods hillbillies, a friendly neighborhood ice cream ripper, a congregation of evil worship, and the nastiest clowns you’ve ever met (hopefully). In its second year in New York, this haunted hayride is an experience of absolute twisted, psychotic fun. This is full on horror, with viscous demons and killers waiting around every corner and turn to ruin you.

This famous haunted hayride attraction is put on by Ten Thirty One Productions which has been featured on countless broadcasts and publications in addition to being featured on Shark Tank and getting the investment from Mark Cuban. Tickets can be found here.

Stranger Things Themed Party

Friday October 21 at 10pm – 2:00am
Saturday October 22 at  10pm – 2:00am
Sunday October 23 at 10pm – 2:00am

If you’ve hopped on the Stranger Things bandwagon, this party has to be added to your Halloweekend to-do list. Explore Hawkins and the Upside Down while listening to awesome 80’s music and featured music from from Stranger Things. Engage in the cool trivia segment, and play some themed dungeons & dragons. There will be waffles served as well as prized for costumes and other fun giveaways!

Movies Under the Stars: Shocktober Fest – Casper

Thursday October 27 at 6:00 – 7:45 pm.

Who doesn’t love Casper the friendly ghost?! Join a bunch of other friendly-ghost lovers in this free NYC Parks event. Watchers should get there a little before 6 to stake out a good watching spot, the event is BYOB (bring your own blankets) and food is allowed, but the event states that there’s no alcohol allowed. But hey, rules were made to be broken.
