Film & Video Open Mic

Wednesday November 16th at 7:30 pm

Bring Your Own Film is a screening series that gives filmmakers an informal space to show smaller projects and works-in-progress. It’s a great space to meet new people, drink a few beers, and watch some awesome, new film and video projects.

If you would like to show a piece, the event is first come first serve for any film in any digital format that is 10 minutes or under.

This is comedy show started in 2008 in Brooklyn, by three best friends (Gabe Liedman, Jenny Slate, and Max Silvestri) who wanted to start a comedy show where the audience felt like they were at a party. Silvestri, being the only original founder to still live in NYC, hosts its every week and the other two join him when they are in town. The show is free and lineups are announced usually a few hours before the show starts on twitter. The show usually consists of a funny mix of new people and well known comics who drop (usually unannounced) to work on new material, comics like Aziz Ansari, John Mulaney, Hannibal Buress, Zach Galifianakis and Mike Birbiglia.

New School Zumba with Alex

Thursday 5:30 – 6:30 p.m.

Take time off studying or writing papers to dance and burn some calories. You don’t need to be a dancer to enjoy this Zumba class, don’t worry about not knowing how to dance because Alex makes it easy to follow and totally fun. Music used in the class varies in rhythms and styles making it easy to shake your booty to. Put on your best swag and sassiness and come over for a great workout that doesn’t even feel like a workout. Dress comfortably with a good pair of sneakers! These classes are free for students, take advantage of them!

The New School Turkey Trot 5K

Saturday November 19th @ 11:00 am

Join TNS community for a 5k run/walk to support the Coalition for the Homeless, all donations and fees will go directly to the Coalition’s Grand Central Food Program. Top finishers will receive a great prize package and the first 30 to register will receive event t-shirts! All participants, regardless of finish time will receive gifts from sponsors of the event. The event is $15 for New School community, $20 for the general public and, $25 for everyone who register on race day. Registration can be found here.

Runners, please check-in between 10:30-10:50am at the Bike and Roll building at Pier 84.

NYC Whiskey Feast

Saturday November 19 at 1:00 –  9:30 pm

Big whiskey drinkers welcome to heaven! Drink up your favorite grown up beverage at this ultimate cocktail festival. The Feast will feature unlimited samples of whiskies and other handcrafted drinks from 40+ distilleries and NYC bars. There will also be 20+ seasonal dishes from some of New York’s best restaurants like Bare Burger and Mighty Quinn’s. There will be a live DJ and brass band to jam out to while you sip on your delicious drinks. Also you can , challenge your friends to tispy game of giant Jenga or corn hole. Friends Trivia “The One with the Thanksgiving Day Episodes”

Sunday November 20 at 2:00 – 3:30 pm

Get your turkey eating pants ready and get in the holiday spirit by attending this mid-day brunch trivia. Spend your sunday doing five rounds of trivia about your favorite group of friends and their holiday adventures. Chandler’s waiting for you to try his “chanberries” so make your reservations here… otherwise this is all a moo point. Tickets for this event need to be reserved for everyone on the team by a team captain.
