Everything You Need To Know About The Feb. 9 New School Snow Day

Due to the Thursday snowstorm Nico, The New School, along with cancelling classes,  cancelled all events that were to take place today. The New School Free Press has rounded up everything you need to know about the cancelled events and resources the school will provide today.

Mayor Bill de Blasio said the storm is expected to go full-force until 1 p.m. and by the end of it all, city officials are expecting at least 14 inches of snow. The mayor urged  people to stay indoors and drivers to stay off the roads, according to DNAinfo.

The following is a assortment of resources available to students today and a list of events that have been confirmed as cancelled or rescheduled due to the storm. Please check for updates on rescheduled dates for the events.

    • University Center: Open 24 hours as an emergency shelter for students
    • University library will be closed today and reopen Friday, Feb. 10 at 8:30 a.m.
    • List and PAL libraries are closed today. They’ll reopen Friday at normal hours.
    • University Center Cafeteria is open from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
    • All other New School buildings in New York City are closed
    • All dorms are open.

  • ZOLBERG INSTITUTE ON MIGRATION AND MOBILITY: The Trump Executive Orders on Immigration and Refugees: A Legal and Policy Discussion
  • Alumni Reading: Helaina Hovitz of her book “After 9/11(Rescheduled date TBA)
  • A New Social Contract: Guaranteeing Dignity in a Precarious Economy

Rescheduled Event:

  • Cooperative Alternatives for the Digital Economy Now! A Conversation with Trebor Scholz & Yochai Benkler will now take place on: Monday Feb. 27
