Fashion on 5th is The New School Free Press’ weekly fashion column showcasing the student’s best and most unique looks of the week.
Ian Farmer, a freshman studying journalism and design at Lang is layering it up today with a brown jacket he said he stole from a friend a couple days ago. The denim jacket underneath is his own that he has had for a year and a half. He accessorizes the jacket with two statement pins. He is also wearing Raf Simons Adidas sneakers he said in honor of Raf Simons debut at the Calvin Klein fashion show today.
Ashley Thai, a Parsons junior studying fashion design is wearing a long, black puffer jacket with a yellow beanie to add a pop of color. Ashley said she buys most of clothes online from a variety of sources.
Steffan Smalley, a Parsons freshman studying fashion design is wearing Nike snow boots, vintage light wash jeans and a shearling jacket he bought in Japan.

Ameer Akbar, a senior at Parsons studying Communication Design. Ameer is wearing his usual formal pants, a hunter green leather jacket and fur collar made by his mom, a turtleneck, and his signature scarf. “Today, because it’s snowing I’m wearing Timberlands. I usually don’t wear those I’m always in formal shoes with leather soles,” Akbar said.
Mariann Asayan, a Masters design studies student at Parsons. Marriann is wearing shoes from topshop, a vintage denim jacket from her mom’s closet accessorized with statement buttons to customize the look and a Kate Spade bright pink tote bag.
