Classes Cancelled in the Face of Steady Snow

The New School announced an early closing on Wednesday due to severe weather conditions.

All university functions, including classes and activities. will be cancelled starting at 3 p.m., according to an email sent by New School Alerts.

The closure was also announced via Twitter.

Please be safe and, if possible, stay indoors,” read the New School’s website. Dorms and the University Center will remain open 24 hours. All other university buildings will be closed at 11 p.m. Wednesday evening. The UC cafeteria will remain open until 8 p.m. this evening. 

Students who have equipment checked out from the university will get an extension until tomorrow, according to an email from the Equipment Center.

The university is scheduled to be open at its usual hours on Thursday, March 8. For further information check the university’s website, as well as Twitter.

Other university closures vary. CUNY closures will be determined on an individual basis, due to varying weather conditions throughout the city.  NYU was still open, as of 2 p.m.

New York City public schools and after school programs remain open, according to the New York City Department of Education.

“I’d like to say catch up on homework, but I’ll probably just end up watching movies, celebrating the fact that it’s a snow day,” Sonja Briney said, a sophomore studying communication design.

“I’m going to use the snow day to get some much needed rest and work on homework all day,” said Cameron Skakel, a Lang senior.
