The Parsons MFA Fashion Design and Society Show was held at IDEAL Glass Studios on Monday, Sept. 9, just a five-minute walk from Parsons School of Design. The event was titled “GEN 13” to symbolize the 13th generation of MFA graduates and featured 11 student designers in a vivid, interactive setting. The studio’s high ceilings and overhead lights created an electric atmosphere as models navigated a unique walking path between the structured pillars.

“GEN 13” incorporated audio description of the looks, ensuring accessibility for attendees with low vision and proposing new avenues to engage a wider audience. Audio narration overlaid upbeat electro-pop.

The collection opened with Patrick Taylor’s athleisure knitwear, followed by Sijia Lyu’s structured yet soft pieces. Ziqi Zhen presented futuristic and sculptural designs with intricate embellishments, and Jiaying Wang’s bold menswear featured unconventional shapes and a prominent heart motif.

Margardia Feijão introduced futuristic, armor-like bold forms, while Yue Xu’s quilted, voluminous designs followed. Yunhao Liao blended classic tailoring with dramatic modern silhouettes, and Nan Yu offered an organic feel featuring intricate prints with a glean. Mohan Li’s relaxed streetwear incorporated unique textural layers, and Liying Zheng’s pastel-toned, sheer layers evoked a whimsical elegance. The show closed with K.S. Tehara’s playful, DIY-inspired street style with oversized knitwear.
